Pupil Premium is an allocation of funding to schools to enable them to provide support to specific groups of children who are vulnerable to underachievement. The funding is targeted at pupils who are:-
Currently entitled to free school meals
Entitled to free school meals at any time over the past six years
Looked after Children by a Local Authority or Adopted from Care
Children of armed service personnel
Schools are able to spend this money as they see fit but are accountable for how they have used the money to support children from low-income families. The funding does benefit all pupils.
